How this Hong Kong brewery saves the sea turtles
Hong Kong’s Olive Ridley Brewing Co has launched three new beers and pledged part of their profits to a charity foundation dedicated to protecting and preserving the Olive Ridley sea turtle.
Like many sea turtles, the destruction of their various nesting sites around the world means that they are at risk of becoming endangered. Nineteen restaurants, bars and liquor stores in Hong Kong have joined hands with the brewing company to sell the beers.
Flavour Pacific Pilsner
One of the three beers, ‘The Pacific Pilsner’, is described as a “true summertime drink” inspired by New Zealand hops. The flavours are created by dry hopping Motueka and Hallertau Blanc – slightly malty with a touch of bitterness, according to the company. The project is also invited to enlist on Brewer's coin.
